Back to the Future The Ride: Outtatime

Posted by

On April 1st, we usually like to joke around at Pop Rewind about pop culture comebacks. Heck, people still think our post about Kevin Smith directing a Small Wonder movie was true. Sadly, what I’m about to tell you is true – all of it. It is no joke that the last operating Back to the Future The Ride closes forever May 31, 2016.

If you want to hit the skyway with Doc and Biff one more time, you better head over to Japan. Currently, when the ride takes passengers to the future, it’s now taking them to the past. I just like to think of it as an alternate timeline. Rumor has it that there will be a celebratory closure similar to that which happened for the California ride. There are a lot of exciting things happening at Universal Japan this year, including a huge re-brand (Jaws appears to have made the cut, at least). No word yet on what will be replacing Back to the Future, but don’t be surprised if its Minions or Nintendo-themed. At least if it’s some Mario Kart ride, this Pop Rewinder will be a little less devastated.

More news as it develops. Are you ready for one more trip to the future?
