Retro in the Wild: Vacation Style

Posted by

It has been a while since our last Retro in the Wild post, so I’ve decided to fix that. While out and about on my vacation to Temecula, CA and Las Vegas, NV a couple weeks ago, I found a few surprise retro moments that I thought I’d share with you.

First up, while at a mall in Temecula, CA, I passed by a Build-A-Bear and was excited to check out their new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles offerings. The Build-A-Bear in my city closed down just as these little dudes were rollin’ out.

This beast was calling out to me in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. I don’t remember the name of the shop (unrelated to my consumption of large frozen adult beverages, I’m sure), but it had a bunch of movie-related things.

While I stayed at Caesars, I did venture over to MGM which had a waaaay better selection of slot machines than Caesars did. Remember Beetlejuice? He’s back… in slot machine form.

And the most exciting slot machine I found at MGM? Ghostbusters!

Wait… there’s other different Ghostbusters slot machines, too, because one was NOT enough! I ended up playing the one pictured above and didn’t win a damn thing, but was happy to see that Dan Aykroyd provided some voice work for the machines.

Hope you enjoyed this installment of Retro in the Wild! Do you have any surprise nostalgia encounters in your everyday life? Make sure you leave us a comment and send in some photos!

  • Seems they are catering to our age group with these slot machines, I would give it a try!
