Saturday Morning Recap: Vol. 10

Posted by

Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.

Saturday’s Cartoon:

Hopefully, we didn’t keep you in too much suspense from last week. Here’s part two of X-Men Days of Future Past!

And, for good measure, here’s an X-Men/Back to the Future mashup titled “Xmen Back to the future Past”.

The X-Men movie was supposed to have more Rogue. And we love Rogue, but it probably would have slowed the film down. But still, Rogue. Plus, maybe she would have actually had all her powers this time.

Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg says no to a Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover. I loved crossovers! Remember when Empty Nest and Golden Girls would do it? Ahhh, quality.

Because everything gets a reboot, Stargate is coming back to the big screen, reboot-style. Moms everywhere ask hopefully, “Is MacGyver in this one, too?”

The Wonder Years cast reunited for a selfie on Fred Savage’s iPhone. The story indicates that they’re recording commentary for a DVD set, but I’m still holding out hope that they’re re-making that final episode with a better ending. Daniel Stern is, not surprisingly, not pictured. Rumors are already starting to circulate about a cast reunion for the video game commercial film The Wizard.

Television About Stuff What Is In A Book:

Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high

LeVar Burton wants to bring Reading Rainbow’s unlimited library of interactive books and video field trips to kids everywhere and help classrooms most in need! There’s a Kickstarter. And Troy’s head just exploded. No word yet on if those cool Star Trek sunglasses will make an appearance, but we’ll keep you posted.

Video Games:

Mario Kart 8 has landed. Goodbye to any chance of anything productive happening this week!

A Wild Bill Murray Appears:

Bill-Murray-Youre-AwesomeNo, you are!

Bill Murray is too busy doing weird shiz to deal with Ghostbusters 3 as evidenced here. How awesome is this? Not as awesome as, say, randomly showing up on the set of Ghostbusters 3.

In Case You Missed It:

Lee ran through seven shirts his mom picked out for him. Don’t lie, we know you had these, too!

And Linz talked about eating food from squeeze tubes because the 90s were a really weird time.

Rediscover the 80s has their weekly links post up too, with tons of great links!

Don Levine, creator of the original line of G.I. Joes passed away on May 22 at the age of 86.
