Posted by

Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.

Saturday Morning Programming:

We’re watching The Smurfs this morning, in tribute of an article way down at the bottom of the post. Now you have to read the whole thing to find out more. My plan has worked– hey, stop scrolling!

New Ghostusters trailer, dawwwwwg! Which reminds us: How Sexism Ruins Ghostbusters for Everyone, Even the People Who Don’t Care.

Nintendo will start producing its own movies over the next few years. What’s John Leguizamo up to these days? Or should we say… Luigizamo?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (2016) – “Casey Jones” Clip.

X-Men: Apocalypse – “Welcome Home Raven” Clip.

Harley Quinn Movie in the Works at Warner Bros. With Margot Robbie.

Yaaas omg yassss. X-Files won’t return next season, but might for 2017-18.

Just when you thought everything was rebooted: Fox reboots Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Kevin Smith Is Reportedly Turning The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Into A TV Series.

Linz stopped in at her parents’ house last night to show her mom, #1 Richard Dean Anderson fan, the MacGyver trailer. The only positive thing she said was: “We get to see Nicky!” (in reference to Nick Stokes [George Eads] from CSI). So. That’s something.

In Case You Missed It:

Lee answered the question: What would happen if we lined up the “Ghostbusters Meet the Laser Ghost” story book record from the 80s with the newest Ghostbusters offering.

Lee then got obsessed with Weird Paul Petroskey’s “Peanut Butter Recall” music video.

And then Linz rounded out the week with this tribute: Orbitz and Independence Day: A Match Made in 90s Heaven.

Rediscover the 80s recaps even more retro news you can use in their Recurrent Events!

Nintendo Player always brings the goods: Unreleased Snow White NES Game at Long Last Lives Happily Ever After.

Ecto Cooler returns! Well, officially on May 30, but you can read a review of it now courtesy of Dinosaur Dracula!

Branded in the 80s answers the age-old question: What do Smurfs smell like anyway? in this post about Smurfs Scratch ‘n Sniff stickers that Linz was obsessed with.
