Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past… little bit. We know, it has been a bit since our last recap, but this week had some interesting news that we just couldn’t ignore. Sit back and enjoy!

Saturday Morning Programming:

Sometimes after a long, hard week, you just need to watch The Tick.

Video Games:

We are READY for Sonic Mania!

Beverage News You Can Use!:

Good news! The Impulsive Buy reports that ZIMA IS BACK! Those were spotted at Walmart, but your mileage may vary. Anyone know if Canada will be getting some?

Not sure on the availability of this one either, but if you’re in Ontario and can’t find Zima, at least Pop Shoppe Hard Cream Soda and Hard Lime Ricky are there to quench your thirst!

Reunion News?:

You couldn’t have possibly missed this, but Dave Thomas Talks McKenzie Brothers Reunion Plans. Don’t worry, Linz is on the ticket waiting list. #Pray4Linz.

Amusement Parks:

Thanks to a heads-up from @Stingray_travel, we learned that the E.T. ride at Universal Orlando was closed for repairs. It was reported this week that with Nintendo World coming to Universal Studios in Orlando, the E.T. ride will stay, but Woody Woodpecker and Barney will be torn down.

In Case You Missed It:

We interviewed Weird Paul in this piece: Weird Paul: Working for Views and Recalling Peanut Butter. The Kickstarter was funded and we’re excited to see that documentary!

Don’t miss a new(ish) episode of the Pop Rewind Podcast: Tech to Wow Our 90s Selves

And of course, we uncover the origin stories of your favorite cereal mascots. Yeah, it’s another weird one: Cereal Origin Stories Hollywood Style.

Macleans is the pinnacle of Canadian journalism. We love this list: How 25 Canadian websites looked in the Internet’s early days.

Casserole of Disaster presents DJ D vs Great White Predator Hot Sauce! Ouch!

Josh and Rich from the Why Are You Listening to This? Podcast recap their adventures in Alabama!

Don’t miss the Rediscover the 80s’ Memory Jogger Podcast on Saturday Morning Commercials!
