Saturday Morning Recap: Vol. 18

Posted by

Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.

Saturday Morning Cartoon:

Today we’re watching Alf Tales, because it’s important to remember that it happened. Also, this episode features Alf in lederhosen. What else could you want to see in your life?

So Mad Max is getting a reboot next year.

Home Video:

Shout! Factory will be releasing the “Weird Al” Yankovic classic UHF on Blu-Ray in November.  They’re also putting out The Compleat Al on DVD, which has been out of print since the laserdisc days. We were looking forward to getting rid of our two LD players, but Shout! Factory did not approve, so guess we’re keeping them another twenty years:

YES BRUCE CAMPBELL. The Evil Dead is back in TV series form.

Book Learnin’:

Dark Horse announced that they’re publishing The Art of He-Man and the Master of the Universe, slated for release in April 2015.

In Case You Missed It:

Lee dug out the Hulk Hogan Thunder Mixer from the back of his car to spotlight in a Junk Pile post.

Linz went on vacation and found all sorts of retro moments to share.

We also took a look back at several cartoons we watched in the early morning before school.  Did you watch any of these?
