Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.
Saturday Morning Programming:
It seems appropriate to take a detour from the usual animated show this week and look back on the comedy of Robin Williams with the pilot episode of Mork & Mindy
. It’s certainly a show from our childhood, not to mention Lee was always pretty jealous that he couldn’t drink through it his finger like Mork.
Beetlejuice 2 is reportedly in the works, with original cast members Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder
. Awwww yis.
Arguably the most controversial game of Sega’s history, Night Trap, is seeing an HD PC release. Check out the Kickstarter here
. And here we thought the 32X CD version was good enough.
A new trailer for Sonic Boom: Rise of the Lyric for the WiiU was released, reminding us all of the pain we suffer through the Sonic Cycle. Well, it ain’t stoppin’ Linz from buying this bad boy anyway. Will she ever learn? Find out this November.
In Case You Missed It:
Lee started off the week by revisiting EPCOT.
Linz reminded us of the Lowered Expectations we shared in the ’90s with MAD TV.
Then we compared-and-contrasted for this week’s assignment for the League, revisiting YTV and Nickelodeon.
Sadly, Robin Williams passed away on August 11. Chances are you grew up watching Williams in something or other– Linz was obsessed with Toys for some reason, but you probably have better taste and watched something like Jumanji over and over. Unless you’re Lee, in which case you bought a DVD of Popeye in the discount bin at K-Mart last year.
