Saturday Morning Recap: Vol. 36

Posted by

Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.

Saturday Morning Programming:

We really wanted an E.T. cartoon to round out E.T. Week, but sadly, one was never made. Instead, we’re going to focus on some Robot Chicken clips of E.T., because that’s about as close as it gets.

THE TERMINATOR TRAILER IS HERE. If you didn’t know, the first Terminator film is Linz’s favorite movie. Our take on the trailer? It’s like they smushed together the first two films and then re-wrote Sarah Connor’s back story in a weird way that makes no sense. But Linz is ALL ABOUT THIS ANYWAY.

We saw “Deadpool” in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and were like, “NO.” Then we heard the news that “Deadpool” was getting his own movie and it wasn’t going to be “Deadpool” but Deadpool. And then it was cancelled and we resounded with another “NOOOOOOOOO!” Earlier this year, some Deadpool test footage showed up online and the Internet lost. its. mind. When we were told it was old footage from a dead project were screamed “NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” And now… now Ryan Reynolds is in negotiations for the Deadpool movie. To which we say, “YES OMFG YES.” Now you’re up to speed.

Harrison Ford is keeping busy and is slated to star in Blade Runner 2!

Comic Books:

Bill & Ted are back… in comic book form, March 2015!

Celebrity Auctions:

Mustachioed super star Burt Reynolds is selling his Smokey and the Bandit car, among other things, at auction.

The third installment of “The Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses” concert series will be making the rounds across the globe throughout 2015. Note: the video above has nothing to do with the symphony. We are just forever 12.

In Case You Missed It:

We had a busy week at Pop Rewind with our “E.T. Week” celebrations. Here’s a recap of all the goodness.

We started off by Announcing E.T. Week, of course. This post includes a look back at the E.T. content already on the site.

Then, we ventured to Florida to take E.T. for the Atari on the E.T. Ride!

On Tuesday, we posted a new episode of the podcast, the E.T.-themed Phoning Home episode.

By Wednesday, we were getting diabetes from eating all those delicious E.T. Cookies adorned with Reese’s Pieces.

On Thursday, we ventured into an alternate reality where E.T. stars in Ernest movies.

And Lee treated us to a video supplement to an article from earlier this week: E.T. Game on E.T. Ride: The Video.
