Saturday Morning Recap: Vol. 37

Posted by

Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.

Saturday Morning Programming:

It existed, so we’re passing it on to you to watch an episode of the Police Academy animated series.

Power Ranger Jason David Frank wants CM Punk for his first UFC fight. You can’t even make that stuff up if you tried.

Director David Green is slated to be working on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 movie.

The new Mad Max: Fury Road trailer debuted.

David Letterman’s last Late Show will air Wednesday, May 20, 2015 (but for real, unlike some untalented hacks who ended up with late night shows for some reason *coughLenocough* #TEAMCOCO).

Paul McCartney recently wrote a song for the video game Destiny.  The music video dropped this week.  Check out Paul tapping into his inner-Bowie… or inner-Klaatu?  Hmmm…  Don’t forget, he wrote a song about Magneto.  Yes, the X-Men guy.

In Case You Missed It:

Thank goodness Lee is around to tell us all about The Johnny 5 Movie You Don’t Know About.

And Linz is here to shine the spotlight on 7 Rube Goldberg Machines in Popular Culture.

And don’t forget to check out Rediscover the 80s for even more retro goodness!

Ralph Baer, inventor of first video game console, passed away at the age of 92. Baer created the very first home video game console in the late ‘60s, simply called the “Brown Box,” which later came to be known as the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972.
