Saturday Morning Recap: Vol. 50

Posted by

Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.

Saturday Morning Programming:

With the latest batch of Ghostbusters movie reboot news, we figured it was only appropriate to watch an episode of The Real Ghostbusters this morning.

Yo dawg, I heard you like Ghostbusters reboots… Sony Plans Guy-Themed ‘Ghostbusters’ Film With Russo Brothers, Channing Tatum & ‘IM3′ Scribe Drew Pearce.

Zoolander 2 is getting closer…

Tron 3 to be filmed in Vancouver this fall

The trailer for the new Kurt Cobain documentary was released this week.

Marvel’s X-Men: ’92 #1 will bring the ’90s cartoon X-Men to modern comics.

Need that certain… je ne sais quoi for your game room? Set up the right mood with this Arcade Ambience video!

VHS News:

Yale library acquires blockbuster collection of ’70s and ’80s VHS tapes, which reminds us that we really need to go through our own VHS collections!

Earl Sinclair likes it when you call him Big Poppa…:

Now that we think about it, combining Earl Sinclair from Dinosaurs with The Notorious B.I.G. is a no-brainer. We’re hoping for a “Big Poppa” follow-up.

In Case You Missed It:

The newest episode of the Pop Rewind Podcast: Video Game Red Eye went up on Tuesday! In it, we discuss all things Virtual Boy (and apologies in advance… we weren’t very nice).

Linz went though some Things You No Longer Have in Your Bedroom. Although she may still have those NKOTB posters and Sonic the Hedgehog sheets somewhere…

And if you don’t follow us on Instagram, you should. Then you’d get to see the newest Pop Rewind home brewed beer– “Honey, I Shrunk the Brown Ale”, aptly named for a delicious honey brown ale.

When you’re done with this list, be sure to head over to Rediscover the 80s for their Weekly Links!

Sam Simon, co-creator of The Simpsons, passed away on Sunday at the age of 59.
