Remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up for? While we can’t provide a four-hour block of programming, here’s some retro news you may have missed (or simply want to revisit) from the past week.
Saturday Morning Programming:
Did you know that DuckTales premiered 28 years ago yesterday? If you don’t know, now you know.
HOLD THE EFFING PHONE. A Troll movie? Wait, no a MUSICAL Troll movie? With Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick? This better include Kokomo. #TeamTrollies #TeamJazzCrab
Deadpool. Gambit. X-Men. Need we say more? Nope.
Somewhat relevant to your interests: the BBC announced it would launch a streaming service in the U.S. next year. Finally, a less bootleggy way to watch Doctor Who (and The Great British Bake-Off. Listen, don’t judge Linz. That shit is surprisingly entertaining).
In Case You Missed It:
This week, Linz talked about Paint Rocks. What the heck are paint rocks? Pretty much what they sound like, but little did we know as kids that these Paint Rocks (or Detroit Fordite) were actually… a thing!
Mostly we’ve just been obsessed with Super Mario Maker. Linz made a Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone inspired level called Mario the Hedgehog. Once she unlocks Sonic finally the level will get a much-needed up grade, but until then… enjoy!
Rediscover the 80s has their Weekly Links up with even more retro news! They also had lots of great coverage of Retro Con up this week, so make sure you go check that out, too!
The Robot’s Pajamas took a look at U.S. Theme Parks with the Most Deaths. A little morbid, yes. But interesting and educational, especially because Lee lives for roller coasters and Linz… well, she’ll be at the end of the ride holding your jacket and eating a snack.
Toy Tales laid down some FacTOYDs about Play-Doh for National Play-Doh Day.
The Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang comes back with part two of his Rare Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toy list.
